“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Today’s marches across 7 continents (yes, including Antarctica’s “March of the Penguins”) were truly an inspiration! I marched for my family, for the future that my babies will grow up in, for women’s rights, for equality, for so, so much more. Today’s rally in Ventura, California was warm and friendly. Respectful. It was a beautiful gathering of people peacefully coming together to share our core values and demonstrate the power of love and resistance. Trump has inadvertently brought forth a new generation of activists all over the world, joining forces. What comes next?
We’ve moved back down to Southern California and are loving the “winter” weather here! We’ll still be covering San Francisco and our favorite international destinations (of course!), as well as more Southern California goodness. Best of all, our new HQ, just outside Los Angeles, has got it all: opulent chandeliers, leopard skin carpets, computer controlled smart home features galore, and a secret garden filled with roses, meandering paths, citrus fruit, and climbing vines filled with flowers! More photos to come once we get everything organized and designed out. But for now, this tiny garden snippet. Have a great weekend Culture Vixens!
Good afternoon tea spots are hard to find. Los Angeles has a diverse collection of tea houses that range from traditional English to sleek and modern—you just have to know where to look. You won’t be fawned over by white glove waiters, nor hear harpists strum. Instead you can relax, enjoy classic English fare and pastries, then grab a pint at the English pub next door.
We’ve stayed in some pretty darn stylish hotels this year, from urban city retreats to ultra modern design hotels, to charming B&B’s, sleek boutique luxury hotels, swanky 5-star chains, and countryside manor houses. Out of all of them, here are our top 5 choices from 2012:
Staying in an Irish manor house in Ireland is an absolute must if you’re exploring the Irish countryside. One of the quintessential Irish experiences, they can be found speckled throughout the countryside and offer little pockets of homey luxury. I can’t begin to describe how truly beautiful this place is!
