I was not a fan of Apple’s first iPad cover. It took the elegant form factor and sleek tactile feel of the iPad and buried it inside a bulky, boring parka-like case. With the launch of the iPad 2, Apple appears to have taken the criticism seriously and introduced a new transforming cover in place of a case. Built in magnetic panels, the Smart Cover rolls up to form a stand with a minimal footprint. It comes dressed in either leather or polyurethane and dipped in a variety of colors. It even wakes the iPad when the cover is opened, and puts it to sleep when it’s closed. How cool is that?
