A friend of mine who plays Brazilian percussion told me about Flavio’s work. I am stricken by the energetic, hand-drawn quality his work embodies. In ways, he reminds me a bit of Basquiat.

Love his stuff.
He's based in Barcelona, but his work is clearly not only Brazilian, but specifically Nordestino. I immediately recognized the style from my travels studying music in Pernambuco – the influence is so strong I'd be amazed if he wasn't from that region, if not the city of Recife!
What's amazes me about his style is how it manages to be contemporary while losing none of the best aspects of the folkloric aesthetic. Isn't this what every artist of every medium strives for? I mean, the tradition is so perfectly apparent, but doesn't appear to be limited by it.
My band z'Bumba is negotiating with him for a logo. It's perfect, since the music we play – forró – is from the same region. hope it works!
Yes, his work is wonderful! Thanks for your insight into his style. His work really is unique. Would love to see how your band's logo turns out too!
